M876 LETHAM BRIDGE

RESURFACING AND EXPANSION JOINT REPLACEMENT ON M876 LETHAM BRIDGE TAKING PLACE 30th JANUARY

Essential maintenance work - with a value of around £40,000 - to replace expansion joints and resurface the carriageway on the M876 at Letham Bridge, will take place, under continuous closure, from 8pm on Wednesday 30th January until 6am on Wednesday 6th February 2018.

Undertaking this maintenance now will ensure more extensive and disruptive repairs are not required. The top structure will be made watertight therefore, deterioration of substructure elements will be arrested due to the absence of water ingress. This scheme will also improve the condition of the carriageway.

This scheme will take place under a continuous full road closure, with a signed diversion route in operation. The bridge will remain open to high-sided vehicles and the emergency services.

During the works the Letham Cottages (Road) will be closed to all traffic except pedestrians at the M876 Letham overbridge. The diversion route will be via Letham Cottages, A905 and A88. Pedestrians will be escorted through the works during working hours.

This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, Scottish Power, local businesses, farms, the emergency services, bus companies, residents and Falkirk Council.
