A985 Bluther Burn Bridge

16 February 2019

Inspection work on the A985 Bluther Burn Bridge will take place from Saturday 16th February 2019 until Sunday 31st March 2019.

Bluther Burn Bridge is a concrete structure, which incorporates post-tensioning tendons (high strength steel strands) within its beams and within the deck slab as a means of reinforcing the concrete. This project is to carry out inspections of the tendons to ensure the continued safety of the bridge.

This work will be carried out under a single westbound lane closure, and with a temporary traffic light system in operation, on the A985 at this location – in place, 24/7, for the duration of the scheme. The maximum predicted delay time through these works is 7 mins at peak times.

In addition, Clinkum Bank road, which connects to the A985 just east of the bridge, will be closed while this work is taking place. A short diversion route for local traffic will be in operation approx. 1km to the west of the bridge.

This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, bus operating companies, road haulage associations, Kincardine Community Council, Stirling Council, Clackmannanshire Council, Falkirk Council and Fife Council.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
