A68 Sandystones and A68 Ancrum Lodge
18 August 2019
ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ON A68 AT SANDYSTONES AND ANCRUM LODGE COMMENCES 18th AUGUST
Essential maintenance will take place overnight on the A68 at Sandystones and A68 north of Ancrum Lodge between 8pm to 6am, each night, from Sunday 18th August to Wednesday 21st August 2019.
This scheme, with a value of £74,000, will benefit road users by improving the condition of the carriageway, and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The work requires a full closure of the A68/A699 Junction at St. Boswells and a second closure at the A68/A698 Junction at Cleekim.
Northbound traffic will be diverted to the A698 Bonjedward Junction and travel to Kelso. From here vehicles will follow the A699 to Maxton to re-join the A68 at St. Boswells.
Southbound traffic will follow the same diversion in the opposite direction.
Westbound traffic on the A698 at Kelso intending to travel north will be diverted to Kelso where they will follow the northbound diversion above.
Traffic travelling south on the A68 intending to travel west on the A698 to Hawick, will be directed to join the A699 westbound at St. Boswells to join the A7 at Selkirk.
This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, bus operating companies, and Scottish Borders Council.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
