A68 Huntford Bends to Letham Junction
20 September 2019
ESSENTIAL NIGHT WORKS ON A68 BETWEEN HUNTFORD BENDS AND LETHAM JUNCTION COMMENCE FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER
Essential maintenance works will take place overnight on the A68 between Huntford Bends and Letham Junction from Friday 20th September until Saturday 28th September 2019. The scheme will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am, each night.
The £433,000 works will benefit over 2,400 vehicles, using this section of the A68 each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
To allow this scheme to take place there will be a full closure of the A68 at this location with a signed diversion route in operation.
Northbound traffic will pass Carter Bar and will then turn left to join the A6088 towards Hawick. Traffic will continue through Bonchester Bridge and will follow the road for a further 8.6 kilometres. From here, traffic will turn right onto the A698, passing through Denholm and at the junction will be able to re-join the A68. Southbound traffic will follow the same diversion route but in reverse.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. For the current status of all road schemes please visit our website: http://scottishtrunkroadsse.amey.co.uk/current-works/
This scheme has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, Borders Buses, BT, and Scottish Borders Council.
