NEW BUS STOP AND FOOTPATH ON A702 GARVALD COMPLETED

Work to install a new bus stop, footpath and associated road access on the A702 at Garvald has been completed.

The main construction of the bus shelter and bus stop layby was completed just prior to Christmas, and the stop came into operation. However, some additional minor construction works have now also been completed.

Tom Wallace, Account Manager for Amey, the company responsible for the Scottish South East Trunk Roads Unit, said: “We are pleased that there has been such a positive response from local businesses, bus travellers and pedestrians to the creation of this new bus stop.

“This project has benefited from consultation with a number of agencies and local groups including Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, Bus Users Scotland, the emergency services, Scottish Borders Council.

“This work is proving a major benefit to the local community and road users. We would like to thank the travelling public for their patience and support while construction work was taking place.”
